It’s never real until it’s personal, right? Here’s what I’ve had to learn the hard way. I have an assortment of white and black children. How many times have my white teens been stopped for a bag and receipt check at big box stores? Never. My black son has been checked three times so far this year at Wal Mart alone . Stopped in a museum to show their tickets? Same thing- zero for the white kids, twice for the black kid. I mean what teenager sneaks in to a museum?! The other day a guy in tactical cosplay clothes made a production of showing his “concealed” handgun. Our supermarket is not the kind of place where a normal person feels the need to wear camo and pack heat; there’s plenty of crime in our neighborhood, but it’s all tax evasion and embezzlement. Old ladies clutch their bags on elevators, security guards’ eyes follow him, and I seriously worry about him once he starts driving. We’ve had “the talk”, but all it takes is one scared militarized cop on a power trip to take my son away forever. I really understand Blue Lives Matter; they never know when they’re going to get shot at, but you can’t change behavior until you admit that a problem exists. White people, you/ we have to realize that racism isn’t always white robes and burning crosses, or even guys in khakis with tiki torches. It’s allowing things to stay the same without demanding change.

Blue Lives Matter/Thin Blue Line Flag is all bullshit:
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/jun/01/cincinnati-ohio-police-thin-blue-line-flag
Nothing wrong with respecting your fellow man and woman, even if they are LEO. But falling for Blue Lives Matter/Thin Blue Line Flag is the same as falling for All Lives Matter.
I’m ordering this for myself today, but the last 2 links can helpful : https://shop.aclu.org/product/aclu-know-your-rights-book/aclu-kyr-book

My neighbor wears his Blue Lives Matter shirt every time he is out in the yard where we can see him. Either he only owns the one shirt, or it’s a total dickhead thing to do.
